Day 21

On Saturday the kids got haircuts and we shopped at the local Goodwill Boutique in Pacifica before driving a couple hours to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We enjoyed seeing the sea otters, kelp forest, jellyfish, schools of fish, and penguins. There were a lot of hands-on exhibits for the kids and lots of places where they could touch sea life like sea urchins and hermit crabs. The area around the aquarium was a little touristy for our taste.

We ate dinner at a local pasta and seafood place. It didn’t look like much from the outside as it was in a strip mall, but the food was very good. Then we stayed in a Motel 6 that was awful–the worst motel room of our trip so far. It was dirty and about 1/3 the size of a normal room. We survived the night, however, and got up extra early to be on our way the next day.
